Alexander holds onto the top spot in the TVC-Ohio with win over River Valley
< < Back to ?p=276215RIVER VALLEY, Ohio (WOUB) – Coming into this game the Alexander Spartans poised an impressive 5-1 record in the TVC conference. On the other hand, River Valley Raiders record was the same numbers, but the opposite: 1-5.
At the end of the first half, the game looked a lot more in the Spartans’ favor despite the highly attended and loud Raider crowd.
In the end, the Spartans were able to take advantage of many steals which led to a great number of points on the other end. Alexander was able to pull away with a score of 60-26.
The dynamic duo of Kara Meeks and Olivia Ohms led the way in the blowout victory. Meeks finished with a game-high twenty-five points and grabbed five boards. Many of those twenty-five points came from drawing fouls which led to free throws at the line. The Spartan’s second-leading scorer, Ohms, dropped thirteen points.
Head Coach Jeff Skinner had this to say about Kara’s presence on the floor during games: “What it really does, not only scoring but gives us another ball handler. Kara is a ball handler. She used to play the post force most of the time and now she’s coming out helping us get the ball up the floor kinda running as our second guard, maybe our third guard out there. That helps a lot.”
Alexander will look to carry on a winning streak facing Dawson-Bryant Saturday at 3:30 pm.
