Sheridan wins ninth straight Perry County Super Bowl over New Lexington
< < Back toTHORNVILLE, OH (WOUB) — One of the biggest rivalries in the MVL, this was a showdown every fan anticipated to watch for the outcome. Deeming it as the Perry County Super Bowl As the New Lexington Panthers set their sails on claiming the title they would have to show up, not only to the town, but on the field as well to battle the Sheridan Generals.
This was off to the races, literally from the start with a breakout run from Reid Packer going the near length of the field. But he was chased down by a reluctant Panther defense and was forced to take a field goal, going up 3-0.
On the ensuing drive the New Lex offense wanted to bounce back, and did just that. Throwing on a rope, built by season-long chemistry, wide receiver Tatem Toth caught the ball from quarterback Lukas Ratliff to take the lead 3-6.
Going into the half the Panthers kept their lead and advanced just a tad further to 10-13. But the momentum was about to shift, as Sheridan was led by the on field general Alex Porier on their starting drive.
With this run he punched the way through the barrier of the night to give the Generals the lead, 17-13. Following this momentum shift Sheridan was able to rally behind a complete team on offense, and defense to take the win away 31-20.
