John Glenn offense dominates Meadowbrook in one sided showing
< < Back to ?p=300114NEW CONCORD, Ohio (WOUB) – On a beautiful Friday night for high school football, it was a battle of the 4-1’s, as the Meadowbrook Colts traveled to battle with the John Glenn Muskies.
The stage was set. Band in full swing. Parents and spectators watching on. Student sections packed to the brim and full of anticipation.
The first quarter of play began with a bang on the first drive.
The Muskie defense forced a three and out for the Colts, and on the ensuing punt John Glenn got to the punter and forced a blocked punt.
Muskie quarterback, Noah Winland, wasted little time punching the ball into the endzone for an early 7-0 lead in favor of the Muskies.
The John Glenn defense came up big once again with a stop on the ensuing drive, forcing another stop. Winland doubled down on his touchdown frenzy, finding the endzone with another scramble out of the pocket, 14-0 Muskies.
Once again it was that John Glenn defense getting into their groove, this time with a Jake Johnson pick-six to make an early house call.
The hard fighting Muskie defense came up huge again on a couple of ensuing drives. Pinning the Colts deep into their own territory, sophomore linebacker Alex Altier came up with a clutch fumble recovery giving John Glenn excellent field position.
The Muskies capitalized on that drive, as well as a few others in the first half, giving themselves a very healthy 35-0 lead heading into the locker room.
John Glenn would add even more points coming out of the halftime break, this time in the form of a field goal courtesy of junior kicker Will Nicolozakes, who knocked his attempt right down the middle of the uprights.
Noah Winland continued his fun on the night with another rushing touchdown, making it 45-0 in favor of the Muskies.
Meadowbrook would find a conciliation touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a wonderful pass from quarterback Justice Huey to Bentley Sedor, but it was simply too little too late.
John Glenn would take this game 45-6 over the Meadowbrook Colts.
The Muskies get set to take on Maysville on the road next week.
As for the Colts, they will look to rebound at Coshocton.
