Point Pleasant stuns Cadets with a 20 point comeback

BEVERLY, Ohio (WOUB) — On Friday night, the Point Pleasant Black Knights made the drive over the state line to take on the Fort Frye Cadets. Point Pleasant was looking to make things interesting, while the Cadets tied to collect their sixth win to run away with the Twin-State League.
The game would start off slow here at Fort Frye. Stout defenses from each Point Pleasant and Fort Frye would lead to a scoreless first quarter.
The second quarter would be the breakthrough for the offenses in this matchup. Running back Clayton Miller broke the scoreless tie by taking a jet sweep 24 yards to the endzone, weaving in and out of defenders in the process. The extra point was tipped and missed, 6-0 Cadets.
The defense came to play for the Cadets. Point Pleasant was looking to drive right before half, but that came to a halt when Sebastian Huck swooped in the interception. The score would still be 6-0 after two defensive-filled quarters.
The Cadets would come out hot in the third quarter with a lot of pre-snap motion, which created confusion for Point Pleasant. Wide receiver Gray Hesson would then take a screen pass 46 yards to the goal line.
Point Pleasant, down 13-0, the Black Knights started to push. All thanks to strong defense, and two huge touchdowns from running back Nate Bentz. The Knights scored 20 unanswered to come back and stun the Cadets, who had control the entire first half.
The final score was Point Pleasant 20, Fort Frye 13. Point Pleasant pulled off the upset of the Cadets to move to 2-3 on the season, and 1-1 in TSL play. They will play Mingo Central in their next matchup. The Cadets would lose a tough one tonight, moving to 5-2 and 2-1 in the TSL.
