The Tomcats crept away with the win against the Eagles
< < Back to the-tomcats-crept-away-with-the-win-against-the-eaglesReedsville, OH (WOUB)- The Trimble Tomcats stole the thunder from the Eastern Eagles on their senior night.
To start off the night it was the Eastern Eagles senior night as they commemorated their only senior, Hope Reed. Moving into the game it was a slow start, there were a lot of turnovers for both the Eagles and the Tomcats as neither team could see the net. Trimble tried to hit the nylon but each attempt was either overshot or blocked by Eastern. The first six points for the Tomcats came from the charity line. It was not until the last two minutes of the first quarter when you saw the Tomcats score their first field goal due to the amount of loose balls. Right before the buzzer would go off to end the first quarter, the Eagles were able to make an appearance onto the scoreboard.
While the game may have had a slow start it was not until the second quarter is where you start to see things pick up. Reed went on a 4-0 run which got things started for Eastern as offense picked up, however each of their shots were not falling through the net. This helped Trimble keep a 20 point lead against the Eagles.
Turnovers were still prevalent going into the third quarter as the Eastern offense was struggling to score. There were lots of fouls being called but not enough points being scored to get the board matched up.
Trimble coasted the game the rest of the way in the fourth quarter as they managed to keep the score fifteen points above Eastern. Fouls really hurt the chance of the Eagles making any kind of comeback. To end off the game Hope Reed ended the game with a game high of 19 points.
The Eastern Eagles are back in action at the nest as they face Point Pleasant on the 5th.
