REEDSVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) —- The Eastern Lady Eagles squared off against the Sciotoville East Tartans in the sectional semi-finals of the state tournament. Eastern entered the tournament as the sixteen seed and Sciotoville East entered as the seventeen seed. The Eagles took down the Tartans in dominant fashion, winning 61-24.

Eastern was hungry for a tournament win right out of the gates. The Eagles generated points from turnovers, and one Eagle lit up the hardwood in the first half. That Eagle is senior point guard Hope Reed.

Reed hit three three-pointers in the first quarter alone with her last of the quarter coming just seconds before the buzzer. Reed then added another three-pointer in the second quarter along with a couple more buckets. She ended the half with eighteen points, propelling the Eagles to a 37-13 lead at the break.

Sciotoville East struggled in this game with ball security as they turned the ball over plenty of times throughout this game. Unfortunately for the Tartans, eastern had no plans of letting up in the second half.

Many Eagles contributed to the scoring column in the final two quarters. Seven out of eight Eastern players scored in the sectional semi-final. While it was a team effort throughout, Reed still shined in the back half of this game.

The senior point guard scored thirteen points in the second half. A fastbreak lay-up late in the fourth quarter capped off her fantastic night. Reed exited the game with 31 points while knocking down seven three-pointers. She also checked out of her final game in the nest to a standing ovation from the Eastern faithful.

While the Eagles were all smiles after the 37-point win, they have a tough challenge ahead. Eastern will take on the number one seeded Waterford Wildcats on Thursday night in the sectional final.
