Wetland Wonders Bike Tour
May 11 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free thanks to Wayne National ForestWe invite you to join us for a scenic tour through the Wayne National Forest! Our route will cover 3.8 miles round trip on paved roads that lead to the beautiful Big Bailey Wetland.
The Big Bailey Wetland, covering 6-7 acres, has a rich history as it was once part of a mine-operated railroad. Now, it is a flourishing habitat for various wildlife, including a small Blue Heron rookery at the far end of the wetland. Bald eagles have also been observed here. It’s a great spot for bird watching and observing the local wildlife.
We will start and finish our tour at The Baileys Trailhead in Chauncey.
**A part of the tour will go along route OH-13, which does have some traffic. There is enough space for biking, but please keep in mind that this might not be the best fit for younger children.
Experience the beauty of spring and discover the biodiversity of Southeast Ohio with Appalachian Understories!
