REEDSVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Eastern Eagles would secure a victory of 47-16 on their home turf in an exciting run against the Wirt County Tigers.

The Eastern Eagles began the night with a new tradition tonight honoring past players on the team. The team honored the history of the Eagles by doing an honor walk, which included the teams from 1955 through 1960.

The 1971 and ‘81 undefeated teams also walked the field with the current players.

The honor walk occurred before kickoff at Eastern Local High School football field where the Wirt County Tigers battled the Eastern Eagles. Moreover, the current Eagles team players wore the original colors of green and gold to honor the original team.

Overall, the Eastern Eagles strove to continue their legacy by keeping the history of their team alive.

Eastern started with a bang in the first quarter, when Tyler Hill raced out of the gate with a touchdown to bring the team ahead of Wirt County 6-0.

The Eagles played great offense; and Hill got the team off to an exceptional start in the first quarter. He led the team in scoring with 18 points. The Eagles ended the first quarter 20-0.

The Eastern Eagles continued their offensive momentum getting up 26-0 in the second quarter. Lance Hessler had a great offensive stretch, scoring 12 points for the Eagles.

The Tigers struggled against the Eagles’ defense, with plenty of pressure protecting the ball and endless tackles preventing the Tigers from receiving playtime. The Eagles finished the half 40-8.

The game continued as the Eagles soared through the second half running the scoreboard. The Eagles ended the game 47-16.

The Eagles will take on the South Galia Rebels next week looking to continue their winning streak.
