New Lexington had the first offensive drive of the game. The Panthers had a rough start, only gaining one first down. After, it was 3 and out for New Lex.
The Scotties defense came prepared. Stopping the Isaiah Stevens and Bentley Hanson duo, the Panthers struggled to adapt to the suffocating defense.
After a great defensive start the Scotties looked to keep the momentum rolling. Senior quarterback Max Lyall took charge throwing dots to any receiver he could find.
The Panthers couldn’t stop the Scotties drive. In the first drive of the game Lyall’s threw an easy goal zone touchdown to junior wide receiver Ryan Lamonica. Tri-Valley got on the board early.
After missing the extra point, they took a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. New Lex was able to stop the Scotties second drive and forced them to punt.
The Panthers then fumbled the ball on the return giving Tri-Valley another chance to score. And score they did. Senior running back Jayden Wallace rushed for a 11-yard touchdown extending their lead 13-0 after capitalizing off the extra point.
The New Lex offense went on to score one touchdown as Isaiah Stevens threw a 1-yard pass to Paul Stenson to put 7 on the board with the extra point.
For the Scotties, Lyall continued to throw dimes. Touchdowns came constantly the Tri-Valley. In the end, the Scotties beat the Panthers 41-14.
