Shermans’ Steamroll Warriors in 35-0 Game
< < Back toCHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WOUB)- In a week 7 matchup, the Unioto Shermans’ hosted the Adena Warriors. The tone of the game was set from the start with a strong play made by the Shermans’ Jaxson Zickafoose, as he took the ball almost the entire field to the house to open the ball game.
While the Warriors had solid attempts to stay in the game, they weren’t able to score any touchdowns. At the end of the game the score was 35-0, with Unioto remaining undefeated.
Unioto’s offense wasn’t their only strong suit, the team’s defense played a big role in preventing Adena from making any big plays.
This allowed Unioto to keep their foot on the gas on offense, scoring a total of 3 times in the first quarter. The second touchdown of the quarter was made by Cody Braden, with a two-point conversion scored as well, making the score 14-0 with 5:07 left in the quarter.
This was a big game for Cody Braden, as he found his way to the end zone again with only 23.7 seconds left in the quarter. The PAT was good as well, ending the quarter with a 21-0 lead against the Warriors.
In the second quarter both teams played a big game defensively. The Warriors came into this quarter levelheaded, looking to prevent the Shermans’ offense.
Adena’s Joey Francis had bigger plans making a huge interception. While this was a major play for the Warriors, it wasn’t enough to put points on the board.
With the ball back in the Shermans’ hands, the Warriors defense prevented the Shermans’ from scoring the majority of the second quarter. Levi Beam broke through and added to the board with only 33.8 seconds left in the game. At the end of the half the Shermans’ stood on top with the score being 28-0.
Both teams came into the second half of the game ready to play defense. At the end of the third quarter the Warriors Xavier Adams intercepts the ball. However, neither team was able to score, ending the third 28-0. The Shermans’ Cody Braden was able to push through and score in the fourth quarter ending the game 35-0, Unioto continues to be undefeated in SVC play.
Next week, the Unioto Shermans’ will play the Zane Trace Pioneers, and the Adena Warriors will be playing the Westfall Mustangs.
