New Lexington Secures Undefeated Record In The MVL Small

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio (WOUB) – The New Lexington Panthers hosted the Crooksville Ceramics for senior night in their last home regular-season game. The Panthers came off a monster 41-19 win against Meadowbrook, while the Ceramics tried to put it together after a brutal 29-45 loss to Coshocton. New Lexington remained undefeated in the conference with a decisive 38-10 victory over Crooksville.
On the game’s opening drive, the Panthers set the tone with a score from running back Carson Kellogg. They would go for the two-point conversion but could not get it, leaving the score at 6-0 for New Lexington.
The Ceramics would try to answer back, but a lack of success in the air would stall their attempts and leave the Panthers with the ball.
New Lexington would also be unable to carry on their momentum as the Crooksville defense would stop them in their tracks. The score would stay the same to end the quarter 6-0.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Kellogg sneaked in for another touchdown to increase the lead. The Panthers were still unable to score on the two-point conversion, making it 12-0.
Ceramics Running back Eli Harvey would have an explosive 40-yard run to get Crooksville deep in the red zone, but the Ceramics were still unable to get it in the endzone, forcing them to settle for the field goal. This brought Crooksville up 3-12.
The Ceramics stopped a New Lexington drive with an interception from Eli Sprankle, hoping to capitalize on their momentum. However, Panther’s Bentley Hanson located a fumble and returned it for a touchdown, putting New Lexington ahead 18-3.
More great Panther’s defense would force Crooksville to punt. This allowed New Lexington’s special teams to make their mark, and they did not disappoint by blocking the punt and getting themselves a great field position. Deep in their red zone, there was only one place the ball was going, and it was to Kellogg. After two strong plays, Kellogg was in the endzone, extending the lead to 25-3.
New Lexington’s defense wanted to prove it was not a fluke by forcing Crooksville’s offense into their own endzone. A broken play would lead to Crooksville’s quarterback being sacked and fumbling the ball, which Paul Stenson tracked down and secured for the touchdown, tacking on seven more, which made it 32-3.
With limited time left in the first half, the Panthers were looking for one more big play and would find it with a monster catch from Bentley Henson, which set off another touchdown for Kellogg.
The Panthers would take this game 38-10 in an utter domination game.
New Lexington will travel to Sheridan next week
Crooksville will return home to take on Maysville.
