GLOUSTER, Ohio (WOUB) — The Trimble Tomcats lost in three sets to the Eastern Eagles in Thursday’s matchup.
Set one started hot, with both teams trading kills, including an ace by the Tomcat’s Brooklyn Burdette.
Early in the matchup, Trimble received a yellow card for a delay of game. Coach Drake said this about their mishap: “We changed our rotations specifically for this game,” causing some miscommunication on Trimble’s front.
This only fueled their fire as Trimble’s Bailee Bickley took the score to 8 to 7 in favor of the Tomcats.
The Eagles and the Tomcats kept trading punches through the first set until back-to-back big plays by Eagle’s captain Brooklyn Barkey gave them a healthy lead.
The Eagles never looked back, keeping their lead until they ended the set victorious 18-25. The Eagle’s captain and outside hitter Braelyn Simpson combined for a total of six kills and three blocks.

Out of the timeout the Eagles capitalized on Trimble’s errors, taking the score to 12-17. From there, the resilience of the Tomcats showed up, as kills by Trimble’s Rebecca Patton and Bailee Bickley brought the score to 19-21 before the Eagles finally finished it off.
In the third set, the Eagles started out hot with two aces by their Captain Makenzie Robertson contributing to a ten-point, unanswered run.
The Tomcats never saw another chance to grab a lead, as the Eagles continued to score, ending the game on back-to-back kills by their two captains.
The Tomcats look forward to their trip to Columbus with their matchups against Olentangy, Hilliard Davidson, and Bexley.
