WATERFORD, Ohio (WOUB) — Waterford Wildcats and Fort Frye Cadets packed the stadium going into their rivalry game. Ultimately, it was Fort Frye coming out with a dominant victory, shutting out Waterford 28-0.

Fort Frye started with the ball, as RB Gavin Rauch returned the opening kickoff to Waterford’s end zone, giving his team a 7-0 lead only 13 seconds into the game.

After a few drives from both teams ended in no action apart from the defenses, Wildcats QB Hayden Jones threw an interception to Cadets DB Kainan Bradford with 7:24 left in the first. Fort Frye took the ball back but was unable to get much action. However, the Wildcats’ defense came up with a huge stop to bring the Cadets’ punting team out on the field.

With the ball back in Waterford’s possession, Jones would be unable to make anything happen, throwing a pass right into the hands of Fort Frye freshman DB Clayton Tullius.

The Cadets got some action on the ensuing drive as they went for 52 yards between four plays down to the Waterford end zone, going up 13, looking to get the extra point, but Waterford wouldn’t let it happen. The score stayed 13-0 Fort Frye with 1:30 left in the first quarter.

Fort Frye got the ball going into the second quarter, and between Rauch and RB Tyce Beardsley, they picked up 62 yards. At the end of this drive, Grady Hesson was able to secure the touchdown, and Rauch the 2-point conversion to bring the score to 21-0 Fort Frye.

Jones looked for an open teammate but as he went for it, Fort Frye secured another pick, securing the win for the Cadets. Fort Frye continued its strong offense throughout the second half, leading up until the clock hit zero. The Cadets end the game by shutting out Waterford with a score of 28-0.
