THORNVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – It was Week 9 in the MVL-Big, and this was the MVL Super Bowl between the Sheridan Generals, who hosted the Tri-Valley Scotties for the MVL-Big Championship. Ultimately, it was the Scotties coming away 35-29 victors.
The first drive, Tri-Valley had possession and knew what to do with it, as after a few Ryan Lamonica wildcats, Leevi Wade stepped up with a 29-yard score, 7-0 Tri-Valley
After multiple back-and-forth 3-0 drives, Sheridan took over, on a 5:47 drive resulting in a tying touchdown halfway through the second quarter, caught by Senior Logan Hupp to make it 7-7. Wade quickly responded with a 59-yard touchdown of his own, making the score 14-7, Tri-Valley.
In the second half, Sheridan came out with new energy and held onto the ball for another long drive. Logan Russell got the touchdown, but it would be taken back due to the Generals on a holding call. The next play, Hupp dove into the end zone, tying the game 14-14.
Back-to-back drives, both teams would score, Wade for Tri-Valley, and Hupp would pass one in tied once again, 21-21, going into overtime.
Overtime is where both teams’ offenses would shine. Tri-Valley and Sheridan made their touchdowns with good 2-point conversions; into second overtime 29-29. Sheridan got the ball first and would fumble, Tri-Valley recovered ending with one more Wade touchdown for the night Tri-Valley, which won the MVL-Big, and in next weeks game will decide if they win it outright against the John Glenn Little Muskies.
