Tettleton named starting QB for Ohio Bobcats
< < Back to tettleton-names-starting-qb-ohio-bobcatsThe battle at the quarterback position was expected to be a main storyline for Ohio's fall camp.
It may have been over before it began.
Head coach Frank Solich announced at the team's media day on Saturday that Tyler Tettleton will start under center this fall.
Solich said the redshirt sophomore really earned the job after the Spring.
It's the earliest Solich has named a starter in his tenure at Ohio.
Phil Bates, who shared time with Boo Jackson last season, will take a similar role to the one he took last year, lining up in a wildcat formation at quarterback and wide receiver.
Bates adds another weapon for Tettleton in an offense Solich called the fastest since he's come to Ohio.
Tettleton appeared in 10 games in 2009, going 9-for-23 and throwing for 128 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He was redshirted for the 2010 season.
The Bobcats have 20 more days to prepare before the opener against New Mexico State on Sept. 3.
