West Virginia Website On Oil And Gas Drilling
< < Back to west-virginia-website-oil-and-gas-drillingWest Virginians interested in oil and gas drilling plans can now study permits and get other details online.
The Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Oil and Gas has launched a website with information on horizontal drilling operations. The site was mandated under legislation passed in December.
It gives the public a way to review and comment on permits, and to read what others say. People can also sign up to be notified when a new permit arrives.
The DEP's James Martin says that more documents will become available as the agency receives more applications.
Eventually, people will be able to see where a well would be located, what geologic formation it's targeting, the date the permit was issued and whether the well has been completed.
