A Guernsey County law enforcement veteran will serve as the new chief of the Muskingum University Police Department.

Daniel Vincent joined the department in 2008 after retiring as a deputy sheriff with the Guernsey County Sheriff's office.

Janet Heeter-Bass, vice-president for student affairs and dean of students at Muskingum, says the university community is pleased to have Vincent at the helm of the department.

"He brings a valuable wealth of experience to the Muskingum force," said Heeter-Bass.

Vincent is a graduate of Meadowbrook High School and trained at Zane State College.

He brings more than 30 years of law enforcement experience to the job.
