Zane Trace continues winning streak with historic win over Amanda-Clearcreek

AMANDA, OHIO (WOUB) – The Amanda-Clearcreek Aces hosted the Zane Trace Pioneers for their week three matchup on the Aces’ Youth night. It was a hard game for both sides as there was a brutal back-and-forth fight, but Zane Trace pulled ahead and achieved their first win against Amanda-Clearcreek 21-14.
The first quarter started off with the Aces getting the ball, but they were unable to get past the Pioneers’ defense, leading to a punt. This quarter was tough for both teams as they both were unable to gain much ground on one another.
Near the end of the quarter, Amanda-Clearcreek had another chance to get points by recovering a fumble from the Pioneers, but the defense held strong and did not let them pass.
The second quarter started off strong for Zane Trace as they had the ball on the 20, but they were unable to get past the Aces’ defense. They soon redeemed themselves as defensive lineman Blake Brower recovered a fumble and ran it in for a touchdown, bringing the score to 7-0.
Amanda-Clearcreek then fired back with a steady drive down the field, with wide receiver Talon Affolter bringing the touchdown home, but unfortunately for the Aces, they did not make the field goal, bringing the score to 7-6 at the end of the quarter.
The third quarter was a lot like the previous quarter as both teams engaged in a brutal back and forth. Zane Trace was able to take advantage of a fumble and managed to secure another touchdown by tight end Hudson Williams. This brought the score to 14-6, where it would remain the same throughout the rest of the quarter.
The fourth quarter started off strong for Amanda-Clearcreek as they were driving the ball deep into the Pioneer’s side of the field. It wasn’t enough as Zane Trace intercepted the ball and was able to get a touchdown on the following drive by running back Brice Johnson, running up the score to 21-6.
The Aces then fired back with a TD of their own by wide receiver Evan Kern and then a two-point conversion made by quarterback Carter Madison, bringing the final score to 21-14, with a historic win for the Pioneers as it was the first game they have ever won against the Aces.
Zane Trace aims to continue their winning streak on their home turf against the Huntington Huntsmen in a conference game on Sept. 11. Amanda-Clearcreek hopes to end their losing streak against fellow conference member the Circleville Tigers back home on Sept. 11.
