GLOUSTER, Ohio (WOUB) — The Belpre Golden Eagles (4-3) traveled to the Trimble Tomcats (2-5) at the Glouster Memorial Stadium. It would be a close first half, but the Tomcats would take the 32-15 victory in this muddy matchup.

Right out of the gate, the Tomcats got the ball; they wouldn’t have possession of the ball long, as they would fumble it, and the Golden Eagles would recover it. But Belpre would not have a chance to make anything happen because Trimble’s Sam Everett was able to intercept the ball.

It wouldn’t be till the last two minutes that either team would get on the board. But the Tomcats would get on first with a touchdown pass from QB Bryson Dixon to Kevin Bycofski. Trimble went for the two-point conversion and got it in, making the score 8-0.

Entering the second quarter, the Tomcats would force a fumble against the Golden Eagles only three seconds in. The ball kept going back and forth between the two teams for the remainder of most of the quarter. But with three and a half minutes left in the game, Belpre QB Mason Baxter was sacked on third down.

Finally, the last play of the first half, Baxter’s pass is complete for a touchdown. The Golden Eagles went for the two-point conversion, and they got it. This would tie up the game going into halftime at eight.

Entering the third quarter, Baxter’s pass was intercepted once again, and Trimble had the ball back. The Tomcats were able to make some magic happen because Myron Hoggsett had a rushing touchdown. Trimble attempted the two-point conversion, but it was no good.

Baxter was able to redeem himself with a 42-yard touchdown pass, and the extra point was good to put the Golden Eagles up 15-14 halfway through the third quarter. With just over four minutes left of the third quarter, Hogsett was able to get a one-yard touchdown with a completed two-point conversion. Trimble was able to regain the lead, 22-15.

The fourth quarter was back and forth once again, with both teams recovering fumbles and interceptions. The Tomcats were able to gain a larger lead and end the evening with a 32-15 victory over the Golden Eagles.

The Trimble Tomcats will travel to face the Eastern Eagles on Oct. 9. As for the Belpre Golden Eagles, they will welcome in the Southern Tornadoes on Oct. 9.
