FRANKLIN FURNACE (WOUB) — The Green Bobcats (1-8) hosted the Sciotoville Community East Tartans (1-7) for their senior night. The Tartans would dominate the Bobcats in a 44-14 beatdown.

Green won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball, but an East onside kick caught Green off guard to start the game.

The Tartans would then march and score their first touchdown of the year from a seven-yard rush by Lindon Williams to take an early East lead. A two-point conversion set the Tartans up 8-0 with nine minutes left in the first quarter.

Green answered back with a rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion of their own to knot the score at eight after 10 minutes of play.

Williams found the end zone again to put the Tartans back in the lead. Another two-point conversion saw East leading 16-8 going into the second quarter.

Gabe Blevins would take off for a 20-yard rushing touchdown after a big fourth-down defensive stand to start the quarter. East would stop the Bobcats on their two-point attempt and remained ahead 16-14.

On the next two drives, both Green and East defenses would step up, trading stops on fourth down. Tanner Baughman would take to the ground and make his way to the endzone just before halftime with a 30-yard rushing touchdown to give East a ten-point lead at 24-14.

East received the kick and put the ball to work on the ground; however, the Green defense forced the Tartans to surrender the first and only punt of the game. It came to no avail, as the Bobcats turned the ball over in the red zone.

East marched all the way down to the three-yard line before Leon McKinney punched it in on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Tartans would score two more times, both coming from the run to secure East’s first win of the season. East would win the rivalry 44-14.

Leon McKinney led the Tartan attack with 19 carries and 126 yards. The run became a major factor in the game as Green’s defense could not stop the constant pressure and contact.

Green will look to end strong against Eastern (Pike) on Friday, Oct. 23. As for East, they will end their year at Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 23.
