As part of a group project, students in the Voinovich School’s Ohio Student Education Policy Institute recently presented research findings to the Ohio Senate finance committee.
These findings detailed how instituting a Workforce Education tax credit, available to all businesses in Ohio, would create a better-educated workforce, benefit businesses and benefit employees via professional development workshops.
The goals of the Ohio Student Policy Education Policy Institute are three fold: (1) to increase engagement and participation of students in the policymaking process; (2) to influence the education debate through student-passed policy resolutions, specifically, issues of college preparation, access, success, and economic opportunity; and (3) to coordinate policymaking efforts between community organizations, colleges, students, and legislators.
The research contributors include the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs and The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education and Human Services in partnership with Ohio University Eastern & Washington State Community College.
