< < Back to lancaster-festival-celebrates-25th-anniversaryStarting this week, a wide range of musical talent will be on display at the 25th annual Lancaster Festival, kicking off Wednesday, July 18 and continuing through Saturday, July 28.
This year’s lineup includes a little something for every music fan, with everything from classical to country, swing, rock and bluegrass, as well as theater productions, poetry readings and art exhibitions.
Since 1985, the festival has been Fairfield County’s premier music and arts event, hosting such acts as Emmylou Harris, Dudley Moore, the Chicago Brass Quintet, Aretha Franklin, The Beach Boys and the Metropolitan Ballet.
The tradition of presenting diverse music styles continues this year with classical pianist Misha Dichter (July 18), Texas-based singer/songwriters Hayes Carll and Amanda Shires (July 19), swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (July 21) and country star Leann Rimes (July 28).
Dozens of local and regional music groups will perform throughout the city at various locations, including the Ohio University Lancaster campus, the First United Methodist Church, the Decorative Arts Center, the Lancaster Country Club and even Kroger’s on Main Street.
In all, the festival is offering 75 events, many of them free of charge. For more information and a complete schedule, visit www.lancasterfestival.org.
