Parkersburg South ready for Ripley
< < Back to parkersburg-south-ready-ripleyThe Parkersburg South Patriots hope to start of their 2012 season much like their 2011 campaign: with a win over Ripley.
Last season, the Pats were able to squeak out a victory over the Vikings by a slim margin of seven points. Although South Head Coach Jon Bolen wants the result to be the same, this time around he hopes the game develops differently.
“We don’t want a close game,” Bolen said. “But we know they’ll come prepared to play.”
Although last year’s contest was close, South never lost the lead, exploding for 20 points in the fourth quarter behind Tyler Bolen’s 111 passing yards. Jordan Quiocho had 90 yards and two scores on the ground for the Patriots. Braxton Johnson also hauled in a score for Parkersburg South. All three playmakers return looking to start off the season on the right foot.
Coach Bolen has been impressed with his team’s desire for physicality over the preseason. He feels his defense has what it takes to come out and stop Ripley’s offense, which he says loves to spread the ball around.
“We gotta come out strong,” Bolen said, hoping his boys come out ready for the challenge to pull out the victory in their season opener.
