Weather Causing Slick and Icy Road Conditions

UPDATE 1/16/13 @ 7:30 a.m. The Ohio Department of Transportation is urging drivers to use caution Wednesday morning because of wet road conditions that could turn icy.
ODOT District 9 crews are reporting icy conditions in Adams, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties and mainly wet conditions in Jackson and Lawrence counties.
ODOT officials said bridges and overpasses are especially prone to ice conditions because of the colder surface temperature.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of the region until 9 a.m.
Drivers can also get updated road conditions on ODOT's new website, Ohgo.com.
UPDATE 5:25 P.M. The National Weather Service has updated a winter weather advisory to include additional Southeast Ohio counties.
The advisory, which begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday and lasts through 9 a.m. Wednesday, now includes Athens, Meigs, Vinton, Washington, Lawrence, Morgan, Jackson and Perry counties.
A mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain is in the forecast with accumulations of up to an inch possible.
UPDATE 3:31 P.M. The National Weather Service has updated a winter weather advisory, extending the time frame for many Southeast Ohio counties.
According to the advisory, counties in the affected region are under an advisory beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday and lasting through 9 a.m. Wednesday.
A mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain is in the forecast with accumulations of up to an inch possible.
People in the northern parts of Southeast Ohio can expect winter weather tonight and into tomorrow morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Guernsey, Coshocton, Muskingum, Tuscarawas, Belmont and Noble counties in Ohio and other counties in West Virginia and Pennsylvania lasting from 7 p.m. this evening until 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The Weather Service expects snow, sleet and freezing rain with accumulations up to an inch.
Snow and ice on roadways will create hazardous travel conditions.
Drivers are urged to use caution.
