Number Of Reported Meth Labs Spike

The number of reported methamphetamine labs in West Virginia has jumped more than 400 percent since 2008.
Brandon Lewis, the coordinator of the state's Clandestine Drug Lab Remediation Program, attributes the increase to the ease of manufacturing the drug. Lewis said the process once took days but now it takes about an hour.
Lewis said the number of reported meth labs in the state has increased from 50 in 2008 to 271 in 2012. Already this year, 40 meth labs have been reported.
He said many of the suspects are repeat offenders.
