The purpose of the Go Figure? Interactive Multimedia Project is to help students review for the mathematics section of the Grades 5-7 Ohio Academic Achievement Tests. The topics covered by the project address critical objectives found in the tests, but more importantly, they address those items that are frequently missed by students.
Project components include a DVD with eight, 20-minute dramatic videos, a CD-ROM edu-game, print materials, and this Web Site. See a complete list of all the components by clicking the Kit Components link.
Go Figure? may be used in a classroom or intervention setting. Presented in a fun and creative way, each program on the Go Figure? DVD can be used as an introduction to or a review of basic mathematics concepts. Each program has several printable worksheets – with answer keys.
The CD-ROM edu-game was designed for use by students on an individual basis. The goal of the edu-game is to solve the mystery of Etna High School in Enigma, Ohio. In order to do this, a student must solve mathematics problems in the specific content areas presented by the DVD dramatic video series. Consequently, programs on the DVD are used to generate interest in and enthusiasm for learning mathematics concepts, while the CD-ROM edu-game allows students to practice the concepts in a challenging game format. The CD has a teacher management function to track student progress.
All teacher materials for the Go Figure? Multimedia Kit are available on this Web Site, and can be downloaded and printed from the site. The teacher materials are also included on the Go Figure? CD-ROM edu-game.
