Ohio has warm summers and cool winters with about 28 inches of snow a year and another 10 inches of rain. It has two main climate regions. The southern part of the state is a little warmer than the northern part. Southern Ohio has 180 to 240 days a year where the temperatures are above freezing. The northern part is a little cooler with 120 to 200 frost free days a year. There is about a five degree difference in average yearly temperature between the northern part (50 degrees) and the southern part (55 degrees.)

These three images show the winter, summer, and rainfall climate patterns in Ohio. The darker blue indicates colder temperatures, the darker red indicates warmer temperatures, and the darker green indicates more rainfall.
