2026 Baker Peace Conference: The State of American Power

This year’s Baker Peace Conference (April 16–17) examines the state of American power. In what ways is American influence in the world changing? How should we assess U.S. strength? How healthy are key aspects of American soft power, such as the country’s systems of higher education and democratic governance? These and other questions will be addressed by the conference’s nine speakers, who come from a range of academic, journalistic, military, and diplomatic backgrounds.
The conference will begin on the evening of Thursday, April 16th with a keynote address delivered by retired brigadier general and business executive, Mark Arnold. The following day the conference will have two panels, a domestic-focused one in the morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a foreign-focused one in the afternoon from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Each panel will have four 25-minute talks followed by twenty minutes of Q&A. All events will be free, open to the public, and supplied with refreshments. We hope to see you there.
