40th Annual Hocking River Clean-Up

September 25, 2021

LOGAN, OHIO – Friends of the Hocking River (FOHR),  a conservation group, is calling for volunteers to help with the “40th  Annual Hocking River Clean-Up” on Saturday, September 25.

Depending on the number of volunteers we will clean from Rockbridge to Logan, and Logan to 328.  This is an in-stream cleanup and involves removing trash, tires, and a variety of debris from the Hocking River and its banks.  The Hocking Valley Canoe Livery is providing volunteers with canoes, paddles, PFDs who will be asked to work in teams combing designated stretches along the river.  FOHR is supplying garbage bags and gloves.   This is one of many river cleanups that are scheduled throughout the year.  We need volunteers to help on river and volunteers to help at pick up points to bring the bags of trash to our trailers

You can pre register online at www.canoerental.comwww.canoerental.com or come to the Hocking Hills Adventures 32151 Chieftain Drive, Logan. The annual river clean-up is sponsored by Friends of the Hocking River, and the Hocking Valley Canoe Livery.  Additional support comes from the Hocking County Health Department, the Athens-Hocking Solid Waste Management Authority, and the Ohio EPA.  For more information, call 740-385-8586 or info@hockinghillscanoeing.com.

If you don’t like being on the river you can serve by helping at the pick up points or in other ways.  The volunteers will also  receive a gift card for future Hocking River Trips.  Hot dogs will be grilled after the event.  For information Call Ty McCunn 440-474-2710.
