Brass Band of the Tri-State Spring concert

The Brass Band of the Tri-State, under the direction of Dr. Michael Stroeher, who is also Professor of Low Brass at Marshall University, will present its free annual spring concert on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith Music Building’s Recital Hall at Marshall. A free will offering will be taken.

Works to be performed include Flourish, A Cambrian Suite, 5. Rag from Suite of Old American Dances, Suite from “Porgy and Bess”, Fantasy on British Sea Songs, Shenandoah, Schottische and National Emblem march.  

The ensemble performs a variety of music representing several styles and genres including traditional brass band music from England and North America, original pieces arranged specifically for the band, musicals, marches, orchestral transcriptions, Salvation Army Band music, and popular selections. Each year they perform a fall concert, a Christmas concert, two spring concerts, and for the West Virginia Symphony’s annual Symphony Sunday in Charleston, WV the first Sunday in June. The group most recently performed in Buckhannon for the first annual WV Community Band Festival.
