A spoken word event. In seeking to lift women’s voices, and inspired by the #MeToo movement, editor Cat Pleska, for Mountain State Press, collected essays, stories, and poems from 30 women throughout Appalachia. Each wrote about her most challenging moment and how she overcame it. Curated by Athens Poet Laureate Kari Gunter-Seymour, this event includes readings from the book as well as an open mic for other “fearless” poems. Light refreshments.
