Shamanic journeying is the core technique of shamanism, enabling the practitioner to obtain help from spirit allies by traveling in a trance state to the shamanic realms. This workshop includes lecture and discussion of the origins, distribution and methods of shamanic practices worldwide, preparatory exercises, and journey work to meet spirit helpers. Instructors work intensively with students to ensure a quality learning experience. By the end of the average class, all students find that they are doing journey work with verifiable results, gaining knowledge and information for themselves and their fellow students that they have no access to or prior knowledge of in ordinary waking consciousness.

Participants will learn:
the identifying characteristics of shamanism and shamanic healing
how to recognize the shamanic state of consciousness
how to recognize their personal, unique ways of perceiving the spirit world and spirit helpers (visual, auditory, etc)
how to prepare themselves to safely journey in the spirit realms
how to journey to the various realms of spirit in lower and upper worlds, and find spirit helpers
how to work with the spirit helpers to gain insight, healing and solve personal problems
how to help another person by consulting spirit helpers
a variety of methods of journey work, including the Sami walking journey
