The Tecumseh Theater proudly welcomes the community and visitors back to its historic opera house for the first time since 1960. The grand reopening will take place on June 6 at 7:30 p.m. and will launch a new monthly recurring variety show series, Live From Tuesday Creek.

Opening night will feature performances from local artists including The Laughing Chimes, Brian and Henry Harnetty, Mike Boley, Megan Bee, and more, alongside historical vignettes that highlight the heritage and enduring spirit of Southern Perry County’s Little Cities of Black Diamonds microregion.

A recurring feature of the monthly show will include a mini-play titled, This Time Around, presented in episodic installments during each Live from Tuesday Creek event. Set within the fictional community of Tuesday Creek, the series will introduce audiences to an evolving cast of characters and stories that we hope attendees will grow to know and love over time.

“Shawnee and the Little Cities of Black Diamonds/Little Cities of the Forest microregion is made up of two historically coal impacted watersheds: Sunday and Monday Creeks, which is also the footprint of the Athens Unit of the Wayne National Forest. Tuesday Creek exists in our imagination as a way to share our story, past, present and future as part of working to rebuild our culture and economy this time around,” John Winnenberg, co-founder of Sunday Creek Associates, says.
