Logan High School presents Next to Normal

Logan High School is proud to announce its first production of the 2017-2018 season – next to normal – a joint venture between the LHS Theatre and Vocal Music Departments.

Next to Normal (stylized as next to normal) is a 2008, Pulitzer Prize winning American rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. The story centers around a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that her illness and its management have had on her family. The musical also addresses the issues of grief, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the dangers of pushing these issues into the shadows.

Audiences are warned that next to normal contains mature content and some profanity. next to normal is not appropriate for children younger than high school age.

next to normal is presented as an Outreach Production in cooperation with local mental health agencies – Hopewell Health Centers, Health Recovery Services, and Crest Behavioral Healthcare. Informational materials will be available after each show for those who may want or need them.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and $6 for high school and college students. Show dates are Thursday, September 21 at 7:30pm, Saturday, September 23 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, September 24 at 2:00pm. An in school matinee will be presented for students only on Friday, September 22. All performances will take place in the Logan High School Theatre.
