“From Appalachia to Africa and Back Again: unexpected connections, genealogical and otherwise”

Faith is a White female American who ended up living in Central Africa for three years, starting when she was 22.  She was supposedly ‘teaching’ for the Peace Corps, but she learned a thousand things for every one thing she may have contributed.   She’s looking forward to sharing stories with the audience about how geography, genealogy and good intention make us who we are.

FAITH KNUTSEN is the Director of Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership & Public Service, since 2008.    She lectures at the University and to community and civic organizations on social enterprise, entrepreneurial ecosystem development, venture development toolkits, and grantwriting.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and a master’s degree from Ohio University. Ms. Knutsen is an advisor to social enterprise Boards, an amateur fiction writer and playwright, and the parent of two young adults.
