“Signs of Life in the Substratum” Art Exhibition Reception with Gallery Talk

October 22, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

The Marietta College Art Department is pleased to present “Signs of Life in the Substratum,” a solo exhibition by Lisa McLymont on display in Gallery 310, Oct. 22 through Nov 23, 2021, with an Artist Reception on Friday, Oct. 22th from 5-6:30pm. She will discuss the work in the exhibition from 6-6:30pm on Oct. 22th at the reception.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, Lisa McLymont is represented by Contemporary Art Matters Gallery, also in Columbus. In 2019, she was named by Columbus Underground’s Top 10 Artists. She has been in numerous exhibitions including: Ohio Diaspora at Riffe Gallery, Art Unbound at Carnegie Gallery, and Art for Life at the Columbus Museum of Art. Additionally, she has been reviewed and interviewed by The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus Alive, PBS American Portrait, and many others.

Lisa describes her work as a continued look at Ohio’s history. “In addition to burying their elders, Natives used the land to record stories and display knowledge in their alignment of elements with the solstices to note the passing of time and the seasons.” She asks the important questions of who “owns” land and how do we keep it healthy and rich.

The exhibition and artist reception is free and open to the public (masks are required and must be worn correctly).

Gallery 310 is located on the third floor of the Hermann Fine Arts Center at Marietta College. Gallery hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or by appointment at gallery310@marietta.edu. Gallery 310 observes all Marietta College holidays and breaks.
