< < Back to nature-cat-theme-song-pbs-kidsNEW PBS KIDS SERIES NATURE CAT WILL PREMIERE NOVEMBER 25, 2015
NATURE CAT features an all-star line-up of voice talent, including Taran Killam, Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan, Kenan Thompson and Kate Micucci
At the PBS Annual Meeting, a gathering of member stations from across the public media system, PBS KIDS announced the premiere date and voice talent line-up for NATURE CAT, a new animated series for kids ages 3-8. Designed to encourage children to explore and develop connections with the natural world, NATURE CAT will premiere on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 on PBS KIDS. Digital content related to the series, including games, streaming video, hands-on activities and parent resources, will be available in the fall as well.
NATURE CAT is voiced by an all-star line-up of comedic actors, including Saturday Night Live stars Taran Killam (Nature Cat), Kate McKinnon (Squeeks), Bobby Moynihan (Hal) and Kenan Thompson (Ronald); and Kate Micucci (Scrubs, The Big Bang Theory) as Daisy.
“With its hilarious voice talent, whimsical animation style and playful storylines, NATURE CAT will engage and entertain families, while encouraging an interest in exploring nature,” said Lesli Rotenberg, General Manager, Children’s Media, PBS. “PBS KIDS uses the power to media to inspire children to go on learning adventures of their own, and this new series will help them discover the wonders that are as close as their own backyard or local park.”
NATURE CAT follows Fred, a house cat who dreams of exploring the great outdoors. In each episode, once his family leaves for the day, Fred transforms into Nature Cat, “backyard explorer extraordinaire.” Nature Cat can’t wait to get outside for a day of backyard nature excursions and bravery, but there’s one problem: He’s still a house cat with no instincts for nature. With the help of his animal friends, Nature Cat embarks on action-packed adventures full of nature investigation, “aha” discovery moments and humor, all while inspiring children to go outside and “play the show.”
Created by brothers David Rudman (“Cookie Monster” and “Baby Bear” on SESAME STREET; “Scooter” and “Janice” on The Muppets) and Adam Rudman (Tom & Jerry, SESAME STREET, CYBERCHASE), NATURE CAT is a co-production of Spiffy Pictures and WTTW Chicago. Major funding for the series will be provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Van Eekeren Family, founders of Land O’Frost.
