As the temperature drops and snow begins to fall, the Athena Cinema is preparing for the third year of its holiday tradition.

Starting Nov. 29, the theater will present Saturday afternoon screenings of popular family films such as The Santa Clause, Elf, Arthur Christmas and The Muppet Christmas Carol.

To benefit area families in need, the price of admission will be a minimum donation of one canned food item per ticket. The food will be donated to Athens city food pantries and other hunger relief programs.

Free event will feature 21 literary and visual artists from the Athena area
