The Ohio volleyball team will hold an open tryout on Sunday starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center.  Players wanting to try out are required to have record of a physical within the past six months.

Why would a team who has won the MAC Championship in each of the last three years need to hold a tryout? Head coach Ryan Theis said that the team is holding the tryout because the team has a few open roster spots to fill.

“We typically carry four defensive specialists on the roster and we only have three right now," Theis said.

Ohio is 3-3 to start the season after facing tough competition in the first couple weeks. Yet, as the season continues on, the Bobcats are always looking for improvement. Through the tryout, Theis will focus on finding players who bring the missing aspects to the team.

“We can use a little more ball control," Theis said. "So we are hoping that in the tryout process we can find someone who can help us out in that area.”

The tryout follows the Baymont Inn and Suites Invitational where the Bobcats will face Louisville, Marshall, and Virginia at the Convocation Center.
