Unioto traveled to Albany for a clash against the Alexander Spartans. Alexander’s defense dominated the Shermans offense throughout, winning 35-0. The boys from Albany manhandled Unioto’s offensive line, not giving up a run play of more than ten yards until halfway through the fourth quarter.

Adding fuel to the Alexander defensive fire, Unioto turned the ball over three times. On the first drive of the game, defensive back Brandon Kisor intercepted Sherman quarterback Strom Cottrill‘s pass on the Alexander one-yard line, shutting down the best chance for Unioto to score all night.

In the second quarter Alexander’s offense took control scoring 21 points in a span of eight minutes to take a 21-0 halftime lead. Not to be outdone by the stellar defensive play, Alexander Senior quarterback Trey Bennett found Gage Miller for two touchdowns, a combined 107 yards on the two scores.

Bennett also ran for two touchdowns for a total of 46 yards. Tyler Smith chipped in with 18 yards rushing and a touchdown. When it was all said and done, the game ball belonged to starting defensive linemen Michael Daniels, Jacob Harvey, Tyler Davis, and Michael Douglas. The line allowed only 107 yards rushing for the game, mostly in the fourth quarter. With the win, Alexander revenges their three-point loss to the Shermans a year ago to stay perfect with a 3-0 record. The loss drops Unioto to 1-2 on the year. Next week, the Spartans travel to Matamoras to take on the Frontier Cougars.
