Chieftains vs. Buckeyes: The Rivalry Awakens
< < Back toSince the two teams haven’t met since 2003, tonight’s game between the Logan Chieftains and the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes will be an emotional affair as a former rivalry awakens from decade-long hiatus.
Logan owns the all-time series lead 21-6, however if they want to make it 22 wins they will have to play a perfect game. NY has steamrolled their opponents in their four games, outscoring the opposition 181-30. Running back Dustin Young is making a strong case for "Player of the Year" consideration with 13 total touchdowns scored already. The team currently ranks 4th in Division V Region 19.
The Logan Chieftains have had a polar opposite 2011 thus far. After falling to rival Jackson last week, they are still looking for their first win. They will need to get their playmakers involved early if they want to get a win before the bulk of SEOAL play begins.
Although the Chieftains have such an advantage all-time, all six times the Buckeyes have won, they have gone on to have undefeated seasons. Given the way the Buckeyes have played so far this season, a win Friday could extend that trend to 2011.
