Adoption Event Being Held Tonight In Athens
< < Back toAthens County is hosting an event this evening to encourage people to adopt.
Athens County Children Services Spokeswoman Sherri Oliver says there is always a need for adoption.
But since November is National Adoption Month, they use this time to highlight that need.
Oliver appeared on WOUB TV's Newswatch last night.
Right now the agency is hoping to find homes for 30 children from nine Ohio counties.
Six of the children are from Athens County.
"A lot of the children that are currently in need of adoptive families in Athens County are ages 10 and over," says Oliver.
The event will educate people on what it means to adopt.
Oliver says the agency always see an increase in people who want to adopt after the event.
"We always do see a spike in people who may have thought about adoption throughout the year but now are being reminded of it," says Oliver.
The event will take place at Athens County Children Services, Building 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 tonight.
