City Of Athens Decides To Comply With Court Order On Strip Club
< < Back toThe city of Athens has decided to comply with a court decision to allow a strip club on Stimson Avenue.
According to a news release, Athens Code Director John Paszke and the Board of Zoning Appeals will go along with Judge Alan Goldsberry's November 23 decision that the adult-oriented business is allowable under the city's old zoning code.
December 23 was the deadline to file an appeal with the Fourth District Court of Appeals.
A Columbus-area company called Three Wide has been trying to put the strip club at a location on Stimson Avenue since 2007.
"Several attorneys in addition to myself have reviewed Judge Goldsberry's decision and agree that pursuing yet another appeal would prove unsuccessful," says Law Director Pat Lang.
The city changed its zoning laws in 2008 after Three Wide applied to put in a strip club. But, since Three Wide's applications were before the changes, the old zoning rules pertain to those applications.
