Athens Planning Commission Examining Proposed Stimson Ave. Housing Project

The Athens City Planning Commission is asking for help on a proposed Stimson Avenue housing project.
It's looking to the City Law Director for advice on how to interpret the Zoning Code.
The project by local businessman Ric Wasserman was presented to the Commission today but Mayor Paul Wiehl says no action was taken. "Part of the issue there, of course, is whether it fits, whether there's no real business there, is it all residential, and how that fits with our comprehensive plan and code," says Wiehl.
Wiehl says the case has been continued to next week.
Wasserman wants to tear down Bella Vino, a wine shop building, and construct an apartment building for Ohio University students.
