The Ohio Department of Transportation has awarded a Pennsylvania company a bridge project to connect Ironton to Russell, Kentucky.

ODOT announced today the Brayman Construction Corporation, of Saxonburg, won the bid with a figure of $81,266,742.05, below the state's final $84,555,000 estimate.

The project will replace the existing bridge, relocating it to between Second and Jefferson Streets in downtown Ironton and the US 23 viaduct south of Russell.  According to ODOT, the contract includes the demolition of the old bridge once the project is finished.

An ODOT spokeswoman says they anticipate the project will start in the spring and take four years to complete.
