Girls Basketball: “Hero of the Week” Dominique Doseck, Athens
< < Back toYou hear her name whenever the Lady Bulldogs of Athens is mentioned. The 5’6’’ freshman guard has made quite a stir in The Plains, topping the TVC-Ohio top performers, as well as the leaderboards within AHS. She is averaging 14.7 points per game, including her 22 points in Athens’ latest win against Vinton County, where they gained their share of the number one TVC-Ohio spot.
Bringing the whole conference into the picture, Doseck was awarded top performer eight times, totaling 148 points. The most recent game in this category was against Vinton County on January 19th. Her top game was 25 points against Vinton County in their first match-up on December 8th when they lost on the Vikings’ court, 54-49.
When Coach Wayne Horsley was asked what he thought of this outstanding player, he agreed that she was a big asset to the Lady Bulldogs team.
“She’s had the kind of season I’ve expected from her. You know, she creates a lot of opportunities for others. She’s a real floor general. She plays well beyond her freshman year and she’s a great joy to coach. She’s a very pleasant young lady that does everything we ask of her.”
The other girls have a level of respect for the young freshman as well. When asked after a game to speak with all of the seniors about their performance, Doseck was right in the middle of all of them to celebrate the win.
Congratulations to the Lady Bulldogs on their newfound number one spot in TVC play and to Dominique for your well-earned spot as our "Hero of the Week."
