Gypsy Moth Open Houses Scheduled In Southeast Ohio
< < Back toThe Ohio Department of Agriculture will hold open houses around Southeastern Ohio to educate people how to stop the spread of an invasive species of moth.
The department will hold the gypsy moth sessions in Hocking County on February 8 and Jackson and Vinton counties on February 9.
The open houses coincide with scheduled aerial treatments for the counties.
Attendees will learn more about the gypsy moth, view maps of treatment areas and talk to people who work with the program.
Gypsy moths attack more than 300 different types of trees and shrubs, oak trees in particular.
According to the department's website, there are currently 51 counties in Ohio under gypsy moth quarantine.
