Bond Set At $50,000 For Buchtel Police Chief

Buchtel Police Chief Kelsie Lanning is being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond after being accused of participating in a drug transaction.
The bond was set during a hearing this morning in the Athens County Municipal Court.
Lanning appeared for a video arraignment from the jail.
Athens County Sheriff's deputies arrested Lanning on Wednesday after they say he purchased prescription medication from a narcotics enforcement team member in a controlled transaction out of a Nelsonville home.
Lanning's preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 24th at 2 p.m.
Sheriff Pat Kelly says Lanning has been charged with possession of an illegal narcotic and additional charges will be presented to the Grand Jury.
Also arrested was Lanning's girlfriend — Jessica Willison — for possession.
