Ironton Union Workers May Lose Their Jobs

More than 50 Ironton employees of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 771 received notice they may lose their job.
Mayor Rich Blankenship handed out 30-day layoff notices yesterday.
According to Blankenship, the notices were handed out due to a budget battle between his office and city council.
The two sides are struggling to come to an agreement on a permanent budget for 2012.
City Council's Finance Committee is meeting Wednesday at 5 p.m. to continue budget talks.
The workers could be laid off April 1 if an agreement isn't reached.
