Regional Favorites Team Up For Marietta Show
< < Back toBilled as "an awesome one-night only chance to see two headliners–a roots rock and folk extravaganza," two of Southeastern Ohio's favorite bands will share the stage this weekend at Marietta's Adelphia Music Hall.
Since forming in 1999, Athens, Ohio-based Southeast Engine have recieved much critical attention in the past few years. After the release of their fifth recording, Canary, they appeared on NPR's Mountain Stage and were featured on NPR's World Cafe as the artists of the week.
This Friday's show kicks off their 2012 South By Southwest Tour. The band will travel the south, playing dates in Tennessee, Alabama and Louisiana before appearing at a Misra Records showcase at Austin, Texas' SXSW on March 16.
Now based in Asheville, N.C., Woody Pines performs in Athens several times a year. The band is perpetually on the road, building a strong fan base for their country blues, viper jazz and ragtime sounds. In April, the group will embark on a one-month tour of the UK and Ireland, playing 27 dates in 30 days, then arriving back home in time for this year's Nelsonville Music Festival on May 19.
